Biography

1979-1984, BSc in TCM. Heilongjiang University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

1984-1989. Resident physician, the First Affiliated Hospital, Fourth Military Medical University, China.

1989-1992. MSc in TCM. The First Military Medical University, China.

1992-1995. Lecturer of TCM department, the First Military Medical University.

1995-1998. PhD in TCM, Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

1998-2000. Postdoctoral research in the Sun Yat- Sen University of Medical Sciences.

2000-2005. Vice professor of TCM Department of The First Military Medical University.

2005-2013. Education director and link tutor of Asante Academy of Chinese Medicine, quest lecturer of Middlesex University.

2013- 2017. Clinical tutor and senior lecturer of Middlesex University; Chief practitioner of KnowHow Acupuncture.

2013- current Chief practitioner of KnowHow Acupuncture.

Dr Tiejun Tang used to study and teach TCM at five different famous universities in China. He worked as a TCM doctor in two top hospitals of China. Under the tutelage of famous professor Deng Tietao he gained his PhD degree in 1998.

Dr Tang had published more than 70 papers and academic books in China and UK. His academic blog had attracted over 440,000 readers.

Dr. Tang was elected as the vice Chairman of the World Traditional Medicine Forum He is the vice chairman of Special Committee of Clinical Cases Study of WFCMS and the vice chairman of Special Committee of Epidemic Disease of WFCMS. Dr. Tang was selected as a consulting expert on Benchmark for Practice in Acupuncture of World Health Organization (WHO). In 2024, Dr. Tang was honored to be selected as one of the 22 Overseas Great Master of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the world.

Dr Tang’s MSc. research was focused on the local immune function of gastro-intestinal disease and the intervention of Chinese herbs. His PhD research was focused on the mechanisms of Chinese herbs for improving myocardial ischemia. He is an expert on many gastro-intestinal diseases and cardio-vascular diseases. He also experienced at treat arthritis, asthma, hay fever, depression, chronic fatigue syndrome, migraine, infertility, gynaecology disease, dermal disease, and many repetitive strain injury.
